Digicel sponsors Childrens Day

Digicel proudly provided sponsorship for Children’s Day celebrations in Lenakal, Tanna; Port Vila, Efate and Luganville, Santo. The sun was hot and the celebrations certainly drew a crowd of smiling children!

The children enjoyed the day of sports on field and enjoyed the Digicel Barbeque and games that followed. Over 2,000 children across 3 islands participated in the Digicel activities ranging from tennis games, hoop games and target games with each winner walking away with a beach play set or a lanyard.

David Bulter, CEO of Digicel Vanuatu was “pleased that we could give something back to the children of Vanuatu. It’s great that Vanuatu has a day that celebrates our children and encourages us all to reflect on how special they are. I certainly took a little extra time to spend with my two little ones on Saturday and I have to say that the activities in Vila certainly kept both my children and myself entertained for the morning.”  

In Tanna the activities centered around Lamenu Stadium with over 1000 people turning out to watch the games and enjoy the day. Parents and children alike cheered from the sidelines as the competition heated up, then enjoyed the barbeque before a charming closing ceremony.

Santo Children’s Day celebrations were held in Unity Park and a massive crowd of 2000 children arrived for the day! The Santo celebrations were certainly entertaining with sporting competitions, Digicel Games, traditional dancing and the yummy Digicel barbeque.
