Text Messaging

Don't have time to make a call or simply want to say hello to friends and family?
Text your friends using Digicel's convenient text messaging service.
Instructions vary by handset but on most handsets:
  • You go to messages, select text messages
  • Select write new, start typing
  • Enter the mobile phone number you wish to send the message to
  • Select send
Text messaging is pre-set on your Digicel mobile phone, so you can start texting straight away!
For further information ask your Digicel Customer Care Agent or check your handset manual.

International Text Messaging

You can also send Text messages to other International mobile numbers.
Simply enter the following:
  • You go to messages, select text messages
  • Select write new, start typing
  • Enter the country code and mobile phone number you wish to send the message to e.g. +61XXXXXXXX (to send to a Australian number)
  • Select send
It costs only 12 Vatu to send a text message from your Digicel mobile to an international phone number, anytime of the day or night.
 

What's the longest Text Message that I can send and receive?

 
160 Characters long - and this includes spaces and punctuation. Some handsets allow you to type messages over 160 characters. In this case, the message will be broken up and sent as seperate messages of up to 160 characters each and you will be charged for each text message.
 

What if someone tries to send me a text message and my phone is either turned off or out of coverage?

The message will be stored for eight days. If, after this time, you have still not accessed the message, it will be deleted. If the sender has their delivery notification turned on, they will receive a message to let them know you have not received the message.
 

Who can I receive text messages from?

You can receive a Text message from other Digicel customers, TVL customers, and GSM customers from many international networks.
 

MMS

Ø Go to messages, select MMS

Ø Select new

Ø Select the visual element you want to send

Ø Enter the mobile phone number you wish to send the message to
Ø    Select send.
